What You Will Learn in Our Yoga Teacher Training:
Yoga History & Philosophy
Yoga is more than just a physical practice—it's an ancient philosophy that offers wisdom for living a meaningful and balanced life. In this segment, we’ll explore the rich history and spiritual traditions of yoga, from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali to the Bhagavad Gita. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the philosophical foundations of yoga, which will not only enhance your personal practice but also enrich your teaching.
Alignment
A cornerstone of yoga, alignment is key to preventing injury and creating stability and strength in your practice. You’ll learn how to break down postures step by step, ensuring your students find optimal alignment in every pose. With detailed instruction and hands-on practice, you'll understand the anatomical principles behind each posture and how to guide others safely and effectively.
Creative Sequencing
A well-designed yoga sequence can inspire, challenge, and empower your students. In this part of the training, you'll learn how to create creative, dynamic sequences that flow seamlessly from one pose to the next. Whether you prefer Vinyasa, Restorative, or Yin, you'll learn how to integrate different styles of yoga to keep your classes engaging and diverse.
Developing Your Unique Teaching Voice
Every yoga teacher has a unique style. Through this training, you'll discover how to cultivate and express your authentic teaching voice. By exploring the nuances of language, cueing, and communication, you’ll gain the confidence to lead with clarity, empathy, and inspiration.
Restorative/Yin/Vinyasa Yoga
You'll be introduced to a variety of yoga styles so that you can teach a wide range of classes. From the slow, healing movements of Restorative and Yin yoga, to the energetic flow of Vinyasa, you’ll explore different practices to meet the needs of all types of students. You'll learn when and how to incorporate these styles to balance intensity with relaxation in your classes.
Meditation
Meditation is the heart of yoga, and in this training, you'll discover its transformative power. You’ll explore various meditation techniques—from mindfulness and concentration practices to mantra and visualization—so that you can introduce your students to the benefits of a calm, clear mind.
Seva: The Spirit of Selfless Service
Seva is a core tenet of yoga philosophy, teaching us to give back to our communities without expectation of reward. In this training, you’ll learn how to integrate service into your life and teaching. Whether through volunteering, community outreach, or leading by example, you’ll embody the true spirit of yoga by giving of yourself to others.
Anatomy & Physiology
Understanding the body is essential for every yoga teacher. We’ll cover the basic anatomy of muscles, bones, joints, and the nervous system, as well as how to apply this knowledge to create safe and effective yoga classes. You'll also learn about common injuries and how to modify poses to accommodate different bodies.
Hands-On Adjustments
With practice and proper knowledge, hands-on adjustments can deepen students' practice and help them find more ease and stability in their postures. In this training, you’ll learn how to offer adjustments that are compassionate, safe, and effective, ensuring that every student feels supported in their practice.
Yoga Ethics & Lifestyle
Yoga isn’t just something you do on the mat—it’s a way of life. In this section, we’ll delve into the ethical principles of yoga, such as the Yamas and Niyamas, and explore how to live in alignment with these values. You’ll discover how to embody yoga in your daily life and teach others to do the same, creating a more mindful, compassionate world.
